National Aeronautics and Space Administration
(NASA)
NASA is an agency of the
United States government.
It is responsible for the United States space program.
It was established in the year (1957).
Its annual funding was estimated at $16 billion.
In addition to being responsible for the space
program, NASA is also responsible for long-term civilian and military space
research.
NASA is known as the leading space agency for other
agencies around the world after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Former US President Dwight Eisenhower is one of the
founders of the agency, as it was established in (1958) to be a civilian agency,
not a military one, to promote peaceful scientific research and began operating
in (October 1958).
